A fantastic opportunity is available for an experienced Service Engineer with a background in fire and security systems. This is a field-based role in the South, supporting planned maintenance, reactive callouts, and remedial works across a wide customer base, all in line with current British Standards and legislation.

Role Overview

As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality service visits, maintaining system compliance, and representing the business with professionalism and technical competence. You’ll be a key player in keeping customers’ life safety and security systems operational, reliable, and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned maintenance, remedial work, and emergency callouts across fire, security, and associated systems.
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding visit outcomes, faults identified, and further actions required.
  • Ensure all work is completed efficiently, in a cost-effective and timely manner, in line with company policies.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough service documentation and job reports.
  • Manage van stock to maximise first-time fix performance.
  • Identify and report non-conformances and generate service recommendations for quotations.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls within specified timeframes.
  • Occasionally supervise or support junior or trainee engineers on site.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including service desk, stores, and management.

What We’re Looking For

Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Solid experience delivering service-related activities across fire and security systems (including maintenance, callouts, and remedial work).
  • Strong understanding of current British Standards (e.g., BS5839, SP203, SSAIB).
  • Systematic problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Competence in working independently or within a team under pressure.
  • Proven track record of technical ability and reliability in the field.
