Maintenance Fitter – Multi-Site | Waste Management | North West
Locations: Widnes, Salford & Bromborough
Hours: Monday – Friday, 6am – 6pm
Salary: Competitive & Open Depending on Experience
We’re currently recruiting on behalf of a leading player in the waste management sector, seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Fitter to join their operations team across three key North West locations. What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Maintenance Fitter, you’ll play a key role in keeping vital equipment running smoothly and safely at multiple processing facilities. From conveyors and shredders to excavators and compactors, your expertise will help prevent breakdowns, support sustainable operations, and ensure compliance across all sites.
This is a mobile role supporting three sites, so flexibility and a proactive attitude are essential - Vehicle is included
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Servicing: Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a variety of fixed and mobile plant equipment.
- Fault Finding & Repairs: Quickly diagnose mechanical issues and deliver timely fixes to minimise downtime.
- Preventative Maintenance: Stick to maintenance schedules to reduce wear and tear, keeping machinery in peak condition.
- Site Safety & Compliance: Work to strict health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
- Record Keeping: Log maintenance tasks, parts used, and inspections to maintain accurate records.
- Team Collaboration: Liaise closely with on-site teams to identify improvements and enhance plant reliability.
What You’ll Need:
- A full UK driving licence (Category B) – essential for travel between sites.
- Recognised qualifications in mechanical engineering, plant maintenance, or similar.
- Solid experience maintaining heavy plant or industrial machinery – ideally in the waste, recycling, or related sectors.
- Confident in diagnosing faults and working under pressure.
- A strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental best practices.
- A team player with good communication skills and a can-do attitude.
