Westwood welcomes work experience students
In June, we had the absolute privilege of hosting Tasha, Lola, Josias, Libby and Grace at Westwood for a jam-packed week of Marketing and Events work experience. They took a deep dive into the world of marketing, getting hands-on with as many different areas as we could squeeze into five days.
On day one, they arrived as strangers, not quite sure what to expect. But by Friday, it was clear that not only had friendships formed, but every single one of them had grown in confidence, creativity and skills. They worked brilliantly as a group, supported each other, and made the most of every session.
Here’s how the week went down:
Day one
Welcome to Westwood. We kicked off with an introduction to marketing- what it actually is, why it matters, and how we use target audiences, branding and tone of voice to create an impact.
Day two
We jumped into pitching, event planning and budgeting. The students developed ideas, worked within constraints and explored the reality of bringing events to life.
Day three
A deep dive into paid social, SEO, copywriting and graphic design. This day was all about combining creative thinking with technical know-how.
Day four
The spotlight was on content creation. We explored long-form and short-form content, including TikTok, Reels and podcasting. They had the chance to plan, film and edit their own content, getting stuck in with real tools and platforms.
Day five
We wrapped up with personal branding and employability. We talked CVs, interviews, online presence and what it means to stand out professionally. We then celebrated the week’s achievements with a trip to Point Blank- loads of fun and even better food. (Thank you to Issy for her hospitality!)
By the end of the week, we were completely blown away. Each student brought enthusiasm, professionalism and ambition to every session. They asked brilliant questions, contributed fresh ideas and weren’t afraid to get involved. Their attitude and effort made the week as valuable for us as we hope it was for them.
To top it all off, they surprised us on the final day with cards, flowers, chocolates and biscuits- a gesture that genuinely touched us and showed just how thoughtful and kind they are.
We’re incredibly proud of what they achieved in just five days. They left with new skills, fresh perspectives and a serious head start for the future. Wherever their journeys take them next, they’ve got fans for life at Westwood. The door is always open.
